“Funny Face” is a series of stop motion gifs that were originally made for a video project in my introduction to video course at UNC-Chapel Hill. The stop motion consists of disassembled magazine pieces depicting typical facial features, such as noses, eyes and mouths. The cut-out pieces are then rearranged to float and move across the frame, creating interesting configurations and patterns. Ultimately, the viewer confuses what’s up and down and left and right–much like our memories do to people we know, and used to know.
